Images of Derek Hanekom, former minister of the Department of Agriculture and Land Affairs who was born in Cape Town on 13 January 1953. He was appointed Agricultural ministry by South Africa first democratically elected president Nelson Mandela after 1994 general elections. His appointment to the ministry could best be explained as a compensation for his contribution to the liberation struggle. Text from SA History Online.
