Location: Johannesburg, South Africa
Thousands of fans from Diepsloot Township, north of Johannesburg, gathered at a fan park in their area to watch the opening game of the 2010 FIFA World Cup when South Africa took on Mexico at Soccer City Stadium.
Dressed in their full football regalia, the fans created a very colourful sea of supporters, not to mention noisy with their shouting and vuvuzela playing. Excitement was contagious among the soccer lovers in the community when their team scored against the South American side. Men, women and children were united in their appreciation for their national team, Bafana Bafana, and not even an equalising goal could dampen their spirits.
Although many of the members of the Diepsloot Township cannot afford tickets to watch the games the soccer stadiums throughout the country, the atmosphere at the Fan Park would rival that of any crowd watching the match live. It also does a lot to strengthen community relationships and unite those who otherwise not come together socially.

L’enthousiasme etait à son paroxisme à travers le pays comme on peut le voir ici et dans d’autres rassemblements de supporters.
