Emmanual Quaye works with the newspaper The Daily Graphic. While in high school, he began his photographic career in 1978 with an 11 mm camera. In the early ‘80s he was employed by the publishers of The Daily Graphic, Graphic Communications Group Limited. From 1986-1988 he undertook a two-year diploma course in photojournalism at the Ghana Institute of Journalism. He has continued developing his knowledge of the field through courses, most recently with a course in Nigeria on documentary photography by the Noor Foundation and Nikon Europe. He has covered international assignments, such as a United Nations sponsored trip to Rwanda to cover the genocide in 1994, the 2006 Cup of Nations in Egypt, the maiden local players 2009 Cup of Nations in the Ivory Coast and the repatriation of foreign nationals in Equatorial Guinea in 2008. He has won several prizes, including the 2008 Graphic Picture of the Year for his coverage of a fire outbreak on a foreign vessel and 2006 Sports Photographer of the Year in Ghana.
