This is the story of a soccer team which was badly affected by Zimbabwe’s controversial land reform programme. The team was founded by a white commercial farmer, David Belgone, on his farm in Mazoe, 35km east of Harare, the capital of Zimbabwe. Belgone was the main sponsor of the team, which consisted of his employees and their sons. Since his eviction in 2003, the farm has fallen into dilapidation. The Belgone soccer team was not spared – with no one to employ them and with no sponsors, the group has now resorted to performing masked traditional dances to raise money to continue their sport and to put food on the table.
