A feature from the Soccer World Cup 2010: Nigeria
Location: Lagos, Nigeria
Charles Kimani/Twenty Ten
Compounds in Lagos play a significant role in the life of many Nigerian boys who aspire to become professional footballer as this is where many of them started kicking the ball before they were selected to join the few football academies in the state and later turn professional, mostly in Europe.
In this photo story I tracked the life of a young boy from Ogba area who plays his soccer in the compound and sought to record his life – getting to meet, talk and feel his life. This picture story is the similar to that of many other young aspiring footballer both in Nigeria and other parts of Africa.
