Jackson ‘Mia Mia’ Mayanja is one of two professional footballers that opened the way for Ugandan players now playing professional football in different countries of the world. Together with the late Majid Musisi they were the first Uganda professional footballers of the modern times. The former KCC FC and Uganda Cranes captain played with El Masry in Egypt for three years and Esperance of Tunisian for one year before being forced out by an ankle injury.
Since retirement Jackson has turned to coaching different Clubs in the country and has also been an assistant coach with the national team. He has also established a school in his home village to inspire more players become like him. The school combines academics with football with over 90 kids attending the Jack’s football academy every holiday. He has built himself bungalows has a fleet of cars, a dairy farm and a school on top of helping the elderly in his home village. He has got all his rewards from football.
