A portrait of rural life in the Transkei region of South Africa. The locals have no running water or electricity and work revolves around the home, and the upkeep of their livestock. Many people leave the area to find work in the cities and leave their children under the charge of their grandparents. This results in a generation gap where often only the young and the old live in the region. The grandparents are the last bastion of tradition and they do what they can to pass on tribal ways to their grandchildren so that they are not lost in modernity.
