Description ipjr0539041416 December 1993, 1994, 2000 and 2001 Voortrekker Monument Pretoria South Africa. 2000 A mother feeds her child as others sing Die Stem (the voice) which was the old South African National anthem.. The Voortrekker Monument stands on a hill overlooking the city of Pretoria, it commemorates the Voortrekkers, it has also been the site of right wing gatherings. These days its mostly european and asian tourists that come to visit. But on the 16th of December each year it is those who come to see the sun cross over the center of the cenotaph in the basement and remember a vow taken by their fore fathers before a battle on a river bank between the Fledgling Boer nation and the Kingdom of the Zulu. These are some of those who came.. ©John Robinson/South Photographsafrica afrika afrique afrikaans afrikaner suid
