Description The “Umgeni Steam Railway” organisation was formed on the 16th September 1982 to preserve steam locomotives in KwaZulu Natal. The Steam-train travels the first and last Sunday of every month from the Kloof station towards the Inchanga station and back. The train ride travels along the edges of the picturesque Valley of a 1000 Hills. When arriving at the Inchanga station, visitors can enjoy a family outing at the station Craft market. The Steam train ride is very popular with families and children. One of the current restored locomotives that caries passengers every month is the “Maureen” ,SAR Class 3BR No.1486 - 4-8-2 built in 1912. The line was built in the late 1800`s and is one of the oldest active railway lines in South Africa today.
