Description The natural harbour in Kalk Bay provided safety to a growing fishing community who thrived here in the late eighteenth century and early nineteenth century. During the apartheid era the fisher community was forced to live a small part of town close to the harbour. These are some of the Fishermen Flats that were erected to help with housing shortages. When I walked around in this part of town the children shouted: Hallo mister tourist! They know that tourism brings money to their community.
