“Moose or Tuneya, Zambesie River, facing the falls, taken from point D. W.E.F. 10.” William Ellerton Fry took a series of thirty-seven photographs of the Victoria Falls on the Zambezi River and of the river in their vicinity of which this is no. 10. There is an accompanying “compass survey by W. Ellerton Fry F.R.C.S.” map (284_14) indicating the points from which the photographs were taken. The name “Mosi-oa-Tunya” means “the smoke that thunders”. From an album of mixed photographs by William Ellerton Fry given to his daughter Mary , 29 January 1928 and annotated in his hand.
