GW2179, Namibia, Kolmanskop, near Luderitz, 2005: Kolmanskop, the old diamond mining town 10 km outside Luderitz is slowly being drowned by sand dunes from the surrounding desert. The diamond rich sand of southern Namibia at one stage attracted prospectors and companies to the area. The mining focus shifted further south to Orangemund and the last person left Kolmanskop in the mid fifties, abandoning the settlement to the desert.Graeme Williams/South
