During and after the heavy rains in Southern Africa and Mozambique in February 2000, and the consequential flooding of the surrounding areas a severe shortage of drinking water prevailed in the emergency relief camps along the Limpopo River in Mozambique. Jantique is the name of a small stream flowing out of a catchment area a short distance from one of the emergency relief camps. Once this water was chlorinated it supplied drinking water to about 5000 people at the Samora Machel camp.. ©John Robinson/South Photographsmocambique water flood mother and child
