Friday 7 October 2011 Archbishop Desmond Tutu’s 80th birthday had many days of celebrations in Cape Town. As part of Tutu’s wishes he invited his friend and fellow Nobel Laureate, the Dalai Lama to attend his birthday celebrations and give the Tutu Peace Lecture 2011. South Africa denied the Dalai Lama a visa to attend. These demonstrators show their support for Tutu and abhorence at the denial of entry for the Dalai Lama. they stood outside St george’s Cathedral where some of the celebrations were taking place.
