Stanley Uys, the veteran South African political journalist. Uys died in London at the age of 92 on January 11, 2014. He
headed the Sunday Times’ team of political journalists in the 1960s
and 1970s and through his coverage helped break-up the United Party
and reveal the extent of Afrikaner Broederbond influence in the country. As a result of his work on the Sunday Times, Uys was for many years the doyenne of
South African political journalsits. In the late 1970s South African
Associated Newspapers, the owners of the Sunday Times, transferred him to to London. Uys continued to write commentary on South African issues on the website PoliticsWeb up until 2013.
