Thousands of followers of the Nazareth Baptist Church also known as the ” Shembe Church” visit the Nhlangakazi Mountain at Ndwedwe, outside Durban on 12 January 2006.The followers climb the mountain to attend the first sermon as part of thier annual pilgimage.The church was founded in 1913 an is one of the largest African Traditionalist churches in Africa.They walk up to 60 kilometres barefoot worshipping, singing, dancing and camping on their two week stay at the mountain.Some devotees believe that attending the service of their Spiritual Leader Baba Vimbeni Shembe has cured people of various illnesses and experienced ” miraculous” events.PHOTO: www.rajeshjantilal.com
