Climbing the wall, 21 December 1985: a
raid at 8115 during the state of emergency declared by President PW Botha after the ANC president in exile, OliverTambo, called on South Africans to render the country
ungovernable. Tambo’s call came in the wake of the bombing of ANC bases in Botswana, Zambia and Zimbabwe by the apartheid government. The Sunday Star was the only newspaper willing to publish this photograph.
