August 2002 Aids activists belonging to TAC (Treatment Action Campaign), spread through the local townships to distribute pamphlets and condoms to residents on a day earmarked to raise awareness of the issues in these communities (Community Day of Action). Activists in different communities handed out information, condoms, painted TAC and HIV/Aids slogans on walls. In some areas they hepled clean up litter and garbage on the streets or staged marches in various areas around Cape Town. Here activists address a group of schoolchildren on the issues.
