Description: SAED:SPORT:HORSE RACE:PERSONALITY:DRUM FEBRUARY 1952 ÃÆàOpening up for a quick five-furlong gallop - I̢̮â¬Â¢ve Got A Horse ÃÆàA day in the life of a stable boy. Any kid can ride a horse, but not any boy rides a racehorse every morning. Eleven year old Jacob, seen here exercising Tied Up in the early morning, was born in the stable yard at Mr Pat Wrights ̢̮â¬Âtraining establishment at the Colchester Lodge Stables. There is not much you can tell him about horses now̢̮â¬Â°Who knows, one of these days he may be riding the fastest thing on four legs in this country. If a horse is to win the South African Derby or Durban July he will have to be scrupulously fed, watched, petted, groomed and exercised everyday of his racing career. Make no mistake, that̢̮â¬Â¢s everything. When he wins, you̢̮â¬Â¢re thrilled, it̢̮â¬Â¢s your work, when he fails, it̢̮â¬Â¢s the jockey, or the course or his handicapper, never a horse. He won̢̮â¬Â¢t let you down. (Photograph by Jurgen Schaderberg Ãâé BAHA) NEG 032 FRAME 11
