Description: Mayukwayukwa, Zambia September 29, 2000. Refugees from Burundi and Angola worked to reconstruct a bridge, Friday, September 29, 2000, that was washed out in heavy rains last year. The bridge connects Mayukwayukwa, a refugee camp in Zambia's Western Province, to the main road used to transport supplies to the camp. Mayukwayukwa has provided refuge to Sub-Saharan Africans since 1966. Until earlier this year Mayukwayukwa's population remained at 4,000, but the camp's population has nearly quadrupled since January because Angolans continue to flee fighting along the Zambian border.
