Description: Table Mountain, Cape Town. 31 January 2006 This fire flared up suddenly, apparently caused by burning embers remaining from the earlier fire of last week being fanned by high winds. Helicopters and ground crew were brought in to bring it under control before it could threaten adjacent houses in Bridle Road, Oranjezicht. Last weeks fires, allegedly caused by a British tourist discarding a lit cigarette, devastated large parts of Table Mountain and Lions Head. The tourist has been arrested and charged. Description: A group of children huddle around a fire on one of Kibera's city streets, trying to keep warm during a cold wet day. The wide range of expressions vary from happy and smiling, to hiding their faces with their hands. Kibera is Africa's largest slum with over 550,000 people (one out of every five Nairobians) living in very confined and squalid conditions. Children are often the hardest hit residents of slum areas, yet show a remarkable resilience and zest for life.
