Description: DURBAN, SOUTH AFRICA: Inside of a decorated and decked with flowers, milk, lime, fruits, hooks, hindu deities, camphor, lamp and spikes sewed to his body during the annual Hindu Thaipusam Kavady festival on 4 February 2007 at the Chatsworth Magazine Barracks Shree Vishnu Hindu temple in Chatsworth township some 40 kilometres north of Durban.The festival is a purification ritual offering prayers, penance, observing a strict month long vegetarian diet and in honour of Hindu God , Muruga.
