Samuel Nujoma was a Namibian revolutionary and politician, best known as the first President of Namibia. Born on May 12, 1929, in the then-German colony of South West Africa, he became a key figure in the fight for independence from apartheid-era South Africa. Nujoma was the founding leader of the South West Africa People’s Organization (SWAPO), leading the armed struggle against colonial rule. Nujoma, has died at the age of 95 in the capital Windhoek.
