The Freedom Charter was the statement of the core principles of the South African Congress Alliance and was developed after wide consultation with people from all over South Africa. The Congress Alliance consisted of the African National Congress (ANC) and its allies the South African Indian Congress (SAIC), the South African Congress of Democrats (SACOD) and the Coloured People`s Congress (CPC).
