A large crowd gathers at the front of the City Hall in Johannesburg, South Africa. This is possibly a protest by members of the Garment Workers Union (GWU) relating to the banning and/or arrest of Emil Solomon (Solly) Sachs (11/11/1900- 30/7/1976) secretary of the GWU. Sachs was the first trade unionist to be banned under the Suppression of Communism Act of 1950 in May 1952. This led to a series of protests by the GWU including one in May 1952 and one in July 1952 at the City Hall.
