A Nelson R. Mandela Presidential Medallion collection is being minted by the South African Mint in 1995, to commemorate the inauguration of the country's first democratically elected president in 1994. The collection has been commissioned by Education Africa; the proceeds from the sale of medallions in the collection are going towards the funding of education projects in South Africa.
