The deputy president of the African National Congress (ANC), Nelson Mandela visits Switzerland with his spouse Winnie Madikizela-Mandela from 4-9 June 1990 barely four months after his release from 27 years in prison. On 8 June 1990 he addresses the 77th Session of the International Labour Conference (ILC) at the International Labour Organisation (ILO) in Geneva where he expresses his gratitude for the support received from the ILO and urges the international community to persist in their demands that all political prisoners must be released, political trials ended, exiles returned, repressive legislation repealed, and the state of emergency ended in its entirety.Sublocation:International Labour Organisation City:GenevaCountry:SwitzerlandDate Created:8/6/1990Creator:ANC ArchivesCredit Notice:ANC Archives / african.picturesKeywords:
