The President of the African National Congress, Nelson Mandela, accompanied by the ANC spokesman, Mr Pallo Jordan, visits the People's Republic of China (PRC) in October 1992. The weeklong visit to China involves discussions towards establishing official ties between a Greater China (including PRC and the Republic of China) and South Africa. A number of welcoming ceremonies are held where the ANC delegates meet with, amongst others, President Yang Shangkun, Prime Minister Li Peng and the Chinese Communist Party General Secretary, Jiang Zemin. The trip includes a visit to the Great Wall of China as seen here.
