Title:Drum Magazine social history photographs, South Africa edition 1927Description:First Sight Of The Sea – Peter Magubane was at J' Station to photograph these children leaving for the seaside. GR met them at Durban. "No! No! The water is wetter than at home" There were shrieks of Joy and wonderment when more than 150 African children from several Reef towns saw the sea for the first time last month. They were spending two weeks at Umini Camp, a quite and secluded youth camp on the Natal Coast, only a stone's throw from the sea. The Camp is one of the many organised by the Southern African Association of Youth clubs.Sublocation:NatalCity:DurbanProvince or State:KwaZulu-NatalCountry:South AfricaDate Created:08-1960Creator:Drum Social HistoriesCredit Notice:G.R.
