Title: General Jabulani Duze photographed by Peter Magubane Description: DM2005020707:SAED:MUSIC:PERSONALITY:OCT1959 - What Our Players Learned From The Jazz Prof. - General 'Genie' Duze. Jazz has got to come from the heart. American pianist John Mehegan came to South Africa to play a short season in the plush white clubs. He heard some of our fellows blow, and decided he would like to record with them. "You guys ready?" The session is on. We ought to thank the Jazz Foundation for bringing Mr Mehegan to us all the way from New York, where he is Professor of Jazz Piano at the Juilliard School of Music. A lot of America's best jazz musicians have studied at Juilliard, and that's no kidding.
