Description: Ghana and Sudan clashed in a World Cup qualifying match at the Ohene Djan Stadium in Accra, Ghana on September 6, 2009. Ghana's more experienced team won out 2-0 against a young Sudanese team that their coach Stephen Constantine said was weakened by the game coming in the midst of Ramadan - which meant the team ran on to the field not having eaten since before sunrise. Adding to Ghana's celebration was news that Mali failed to win over Benin outright which pushed Ghana through to becoming the first African team, outside the host nation, South Africa, to qualify for the first African World Cup.. Michael Essien immediately after the match.
