In this remote and large rural area. some parts only accessible by 4x4 vehicle, the Aids Action Team has trained over 150 home base carers (mainly rural women) in providing basic nursing skills. The organisation has also enlisted help from church ministers, traditional leaders and faith based organisations to extend caring beyond purely physical needs into the emotional and spiritual. The project identifies orphans, ensuring they have food, social grants and tries to place them with foster parents.
