Description: Children at an orphanage in Kisumu, Kenya where they are cared for by widows:. Although the Ministry of Health in Kenya says the number of new Hiv/Aids infections is declining due to numerous interventions at various levels, the figures belie the suffering of the children whose lives have been affected by loss of parents and guardians from Aids. There is increasing number of orphans and vulnerable children arising from the impact of Hiv/Aids with no one to care for but their underage siblings, resulting in child headed households or by their old grandparents.

Description: Women prepare food at an orphanage in Kisumu, Kenya where orphans are cared for by widows:.

Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park is an amalgamation of the Kalahari Gemsbok National Park in South Africa (proclaimed in 1931) and the Gemsbok National Park in Botswana, the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park comprises an area of over 3.6 million hectares – one of very few conservation areas of this magnitude left in the world. Where the red dunes and scrub fade into infinity and herds of gemsbok, springbok, eland and blue wildebeest follow the seasons, where imposing camel thorn trees provide shade for huge black-mane lions and vantage points for leopard and many raptors... this is the Kgalagadi Transfrontier National Park.

Description: A beautiful Bontebok (Damaliscus pygargus) calf with its parent in the Bontebok National Park. The Bontebok National Park was proclaimed in 1931 to protect the last 30 Bontebok left in the wild; once these colorful antelope numbered a mere 17, and through effective management we are proud to affirm that the present world population amounts to around 3000. Even though it is also the smallest of South Africa's 20 National Parks it has gone on to great achievements in biodiversity conservation, from the endangered fynbos veld type, to one of the largest remaining Renosterveld islands containing several plant species found nowhere else in the world.
