They were demonstrating against the attempts by pharmaceutical multinationals to prevent the SA government from 'parallel' imports (patented drugs bought in other countries cheaper than they are available in SA) and importing generics instead of using the very high priced anti-retrovirals currently available in South Africa. Description: Cathering Henegan performs the role of the editor in The Shooting Gallery, a production conceived and directed by Catherine Henegan at the National Arts Festival in Grahamstown, South Africa on July 4, 2006. The idea for The Shooting Gallery was inspired by the book 'The Bang Bang Club' by Joao Silva and Greg Marinovich. The Bang Bang Club was a group of young photographers in the early 1990s who became known for their shocking and close-up photo of violence in the townships prior to the first democratic elections in South Africa in 1994. Included in this group were Ken Oosterbroek and Kevin Carter. Oosterbroek was tragically killed in action in 1994, while Carter committed suicide shortly after receiving a Pulitzer Prize for feature photography, also in 1994. (Photo by Christine Nesbitt)

Description: Aryan Kaganof performs the role of the photographer and Cathering Henegan the role of the editor in The Shooting Gallery, a production conceived and directed by Catherine Henegan at the National Arts Festival in Grahamstown, South Africa on July 4, 2006.

The treason trials started off like an action-packed cowboy film when 156 men and women came before the court in Johannesburg at a preparatory examination. The treason trials, now the talk of South Africa and the world at large, started with a bang-bang-bang. There was drama inside the Drill Hall, where the preparatory examination into charges of high treason alleged against more than 150 persons from various organisations was held before the Chief Magistrate of Bloemfontein, Mr F.C.A. Wessel. And there was drama outside in the streets of Johannesburg when the police clashed several times with the crowd. All because the Drill Hall could not accommodate all the 5 000 people outside. First is was a booing that led to a baton charge that led to a stone-throwing that led to a gun-shooting. And side interludes of snatching Press cameras and arresting photo
