Title: Metro Rail near Kalk Bay Station
    Image Number: APN110798
    Media Id: 87_222
Path: african.pictures / Shuter & Shooter Publishers / Izak de Vries
Description: This train was captured on the line that runs from Cape Town Station to Simonstown. It is a safe, reliable and most beautiful line. From Muizenberg it runs all the way along the coast. At times, when it is spring tide, the trains have to stop because the water may wash over the rails. This picture was taken from just outside Kalk Bay Station. Cape Town has a wonderful railway grid that transports thousands of commuters every day. The train is much cheaper than a taxi.

    Title: Light-rail shuttle
    Image Number: APN111715
    Media Id: 87_281
Path: african.pictures / The Media Bank / Izak de Vries
Description: This is one of two shuttles running at the Cape Point Nature Reserve. It runs from the foot of the hill (at the car park) to the top of the hill where the old, now redundant, lighthouse still stands. We do not have many examples of light-rail systems in South Africa, but this is one of them. One does not have to take the shuttle. The brave can walk up the hill. It is a beautiful climb through the mountain fynbos.
